The Arms of Prettyman, Gules, a lion passant between three mullets Or, were first set out at the burial of Christopher Wase, of London for Anne, his wife, daughter of William Pretyman of Bacton. They are recorded by Camden who was present on the occasion, in his book of uneral Certificates, still remaining i nthe office. In 1607 they were passed by Camden, Clarencieux, and William Segar, Garter, to Sire John Pretyman, together with a crest, Two lions gambs erased, holding a mullet, Or. Harl MS 6095, fo.27 At the Visitation of Suffolk in 1612 they were appended to the pedigree of Pretyman, of Thorndon. Harl. MS. 1820. fo. 64b. They were subsequently allowed to the Pretymans of Norflok and Suffolk, by Sir Edward Bysshe, at his Visitation of those counties in 1664.(The Prettyman Family in America and England, by Rev.
